Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure that treats spider veins. Spider Veins are small, red, thin veins that often form on the ankles, calves, and thighs. They frequently resemble spiderwebs and can sometimes even be painful. Sclerotherapy works to reduce the appearance of spider veins.
This procedure involves injecting a solution directly into a small superficial vein, causing the treated vein to seal shut and disappear from view over time. The treated blood vessel (vein) is then naturally resorbed by the body. This procedure will be performed by your board-certified dermatologist Dr. Lauren Campbell and treatments should be done about once a month. Generally, 3-6 treatments are needed for best results, and some patients may need more treatments.
Note: Not all veins are good candidates for sclerotherapy, cosmetic consultation is required to examine and confirm if you’re a good candidate for this treatment.
