PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy for hair loss (alopecia) is a treatment in which a person’s blood is drawn, processed, and the platelet-rich plasma portion is injected into the scalp. PRP injections trigger natural hair growth and maintain it by increasing blood supply to the hair follicle and increasing the thickness of the hair shaft. At least three treatments one month apart are strongly recommended, and many patients will benefit from more treatments. All treatments will be performed by your board-certified dermatologist approximately 1 month apart.
